Deal Radar / July 4th Weekend

16 Tech Price Drops We Actually Verified

Most "deals" aren't. These are — every price below was cross-checked against price-history tracking before it made this page, and several are the lowest prices these products have ever sold for.

The Deal Radar Promise

Every discount here is real. We don't list a deal unless the "was" price matches what the product actually sold for — no inflated anchor prices, no fake countdown clocks, no "only 2 left!" theater.

"Lowest tracked price" means exactly that, per independent price-history tracking. When a deal is merely okay, we say it's merely okay.

🚁 Drones

Both sub-250 g picks are aimed at first-time pilots — no FAA registration needed for recreational flying at this weight.

36% Off
DJI Mini 3 + RC-N1 Remote
Sub-250 g · 4K video · 48 MP · true vertical shooting
$269$419−$150
↳ Holiday pricing historically reverts within days — at list, this is $150 more.
The best deal on this page for a first drone. At $269 with a controller included, it undercuts most toy drones while shooting real 4K on a stabilized gimbal. This is the price segment where the Mini 3 has no serious competition.

30% Off
DJI Mini 4K
Sub-250 g · 4K/30 · 3-axis gimbal · ~25 min real flight time
$209$299−$90
The cheapest way into a real camera drone. Published testing puts usable flight time around 25 minutes of its 31-minute rating — honest for this class.

Antigravity A1 (8K 360° drone)
8K 360° capture · reframe shots in post
$1,279$1,599−$320
The newest idea in drones: film everything in 360°, choose your camera angles afterward. A 20% cut on a recent release is uncommon — but this is a first-gen product, so know what you're signing up for.

🎥 Action & 360° Cameras

Three of the four are at lowest-ever tracked prices. This category is where the July 4th sale is strongest.

Lowest Tracked Price
GoPro Max 2 (360°)
8K 360° video · rugged · replaceable lenses
$299$499.99−40%
↳ At its $499.99 list price, waiting costs $201.
The headline deal of the weekend. A current-generation GoPro 360 camera at 40% off, months after launch, at its lowest price ever tracked. Discounts this deep on current GoPro flagships usually mean holiday weekend only.

Lowest Tracked Price
DJI Osmo Action 4 Essential Combo
4K/120 · 1/1.3" sensor · strong low light
$169$229−26%
Last-gen but far from obsolete — same sensor size as much pricier cams. At $169 it's the best price-per-spec action camera you can buy right now.
See it on Amazon →
Lowest Tracked Price
Insta360 X4 Endurance Bundle
8K 360° · extra battery capacity for long shoots
$436$600−27%
The 360° camera most creators actually use, bundled with extended batteries, at its lowest tracked price. If the GoPro Max 2 deal sells out, this is the move.
See it on Amazon →
DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro Essential Combo
Current flagship · 4K/120 · dual touchscreens
$288$339−$51
A modest 15% cut on the current model. Fine price if you want the latest — but the Action 4 at $169 above is the better value for most people.

📷 Cameras

Full-frame glass for hundreds off — including an entry into full-frame under $800.

Canon EOS RP (full-frame)
26 MP full-frame mirrorless · RF mount
$799$948−$149
Full-frame under $800 is the rarest kind of camera deal. The RP is older, but the sensor size advantage over any crop camera at this price is physics, not marketing.
See it on Amazon →
Sony A7 III (full-frame)
24 MP · legendary autofocus · huge lens ecosystem
$1,398$1,698−$300
Still one of the most-recommended full-frame bodies ever made, with the largest used-lens market in mirrorless. $300 off is a solid, verified cut.
See it on Amazon →
Nikon Z6 II (full-frame)
24 MP · dual processors · excellent handling
$1,396.95$1,749.95−$353
Effectively the same price as the A7 III deal — pick by lens system, not by body. The $353 cut is the deepest in this price tier.
See it on Amazon →
Canon EOS R5 (pro full-frame)
45 MP · 8K video · pro-grade AF
$2,599$3,298−$699
The big-ticket verified cut: $699 off a genuine professional body. If you've been waiting on an R5, this is the kind of price that ends waits.

Lowest Tracked Price
OM System OM-5 Mark II + 14-150mm
Weather-sealed travel kit · huge zoom range
$1,349.99$1,499.99−$150
A current-model travel kit at its lowest price since launch. One body, one lens, everything from landscape to wildlife — the "one bag" setup.

Canon PowerShot V10 (vlogging)
Pocket vlogging cam · built-in stand & mic
$379$479−$100
Purpose-built for talking-to-camera content — no rig, no accessories, out of the box. $100 off makes it an easy add for creators.

⚡ Nerd Box: How We Verify a "Deal"

Retail "was" prices are the most gamed number in commerce — anchor a fake $499, "discount" to the everyday $299, and the brain's loss-aversion circuitry does the rest. So we don't take was-prices at face value. Before a deal makes this page, we cross-check the claimed discount against independent price-history tracking and published deal coverage: what has this product actually sold for over the past 90 days?

A "Lowest Tracked Price" badge means price-history tracking shows the product has never sold for less. No badge means it's a genuine discount, but the product has hit this price (or close) before — still a fine time to buy, just not a historic one. And when a deal is mediocre, we say so in the card (see the Osmo Action 5 Pro above). That's the whole system.

The Tricks We Refuse To Use

Deal pages are persuasion machines, so here's ours with the hood open. What you'll find here: real deadlines, real price history, real savings math. What you will never find here: countdown timers (they're theater — the clock resets), "only 3 left!" stock claims (we don't have Amazon's inventory data, and neither do most sites that show them), inflated "was" prices (the oldest trick in retail), or fake editor's awards. If a page needs to lie to sell you something, the deal was never good. Ours don't need to.

Why the clock matters (for real): July 4th sale pricing historically reverts between July 5 and 6, and holiday-weekend stock at deal prices runs out without notice. That's not manufactured urgency — it's how retail calendars work. If a link above shows a higher price than listed, that deal has ended.
